This Exhibition House's design was inspired by two birds hugging each other. Philosophically, the two birds symbolize friendship, the unification of two different cultures between China and Indonesia through this building. Bamboo is like a person who practices Yoga, very flexible yet strong at the same time. We design an organic building shape with a strong dancing structure, following the flexible and pliable properties of bamboo itself. The entire column structure is designed like a clump of bamboo growing in groups, and connected in a strong structure. In the middle of the building there is a tower column as the core for the highest floor and also a staircase system to the top. The ground floor plan is designed to expand upwards, to avoid rain and direct sunlight, which can damage the bamboo material. Layered roof is useful to reduce the pressure of the incoming wind pressing the roof. The long bamboo material makes it easy to design wide span structures. In bamboo we trust!
