As the Design Village Penang consists of a series of buildings that form an open-air retail complex, this series of ETFE canopies create spaces that are sheltered from rain but still allow plenty of sunlight through.

The use of double layer cushion systems allows fewer intermediate supporting members as compared to a glass structure, and the tinted blue ETFE film and silver dot printing effectively cuts the heat transmission of the canopy.
