Kolingeviert in Zug is one of the oldest quarters outside of the inner old town. Several properties belong to the government of Zug. After the property «ZumPfauen» had burnt down, a constructional gap arose. In an architecture competition to reconstruct the gap, they chose the work from the architect, LandoRossmeier. During the same period of reconstruction, the adjacent properties are also being renovated. The former judicial office of peace at 19, Kolinplatz and the residential buildings with shops on the ground floor at 3 and 5, Kirchenstrasse are being renovated by Röösli architecture AG.
The buildings date back to about 1400. The building has a confusing construction as a consequence of various uncoordinated conversions and extensions. The maintenance was unattended to and in some places damage had been caused by rain.
In close cooperation with the cultural heritage protection sector we have recovered precious historical building materials, such as framework construction, mural paintings, wallpaper, stuccowork, parquet floor and doors and windows with baroque fittings. The buildings should show its visitors all the different phases of its long history.
