本案位于南京南站正前方，规划定位是站前广场和城市客厅，是南站旅客面前的第一道景观和南部新城高层建筑群的俯视焦点。它是南部新城中轴线的起点，连接了南京南站和中轴绿带的艺术博览公园。这个限高只有40米，布局对称的项目，在规划上提出了区域地标的形象要求。

Located in front of the Nanjing South Railway Station, this project is the landscape scenery arrival passengers.  And it is also the focal point of the high-rise buildings of South New Town. As a pedestrian plaza of the central axis of urban planning in South New Town, the complex connects Nanjing South Railway Station and the Art Expo Park, both of which are situated on the city greenbelt. The complex is strategically designed to be a regional landmark. However with building high of 40 meters, it is a challenge.

这一次，我们想到了都市盆景。在典型的站前布局基础上，设计通过地面和建筑的蹉跌穿透，增设下沉广场和天井小院等，突破了模式化的站前形象，展现了独特的站前景观。东西两个办公建筑层叠的形态，结合中央的开放空间，形成了对南站巨大建筑体量的烘托和谦让，尺度上却与南站互通有无。面向南站的两面更有精致的形体变化，附以艺术装置形成的瀑布组景，成为南站的对景，造就了前院的气氛，回应城市尺度，沿街面则是完整而简约有力的处理。两个地面建筑也并非单独设计，而是与南站形成建筑全景，建筑的横线条与南站飞檐共同造就舒展开阳的气度。

The designers came up with the idea of an urban miniascape. Based on the typical spatial arrangement of a station square, the complex is designed to include a sunken plaza and a courtyard through which the cascading above-ground structures penetrate. By defying the stereotypical frontal images of railway stations, a unique landscape is revealed. The cascading shapes of the office buildings on the east and west of the site, combined with the open space lying between them magnifies and complements the architectural mass of the railway station. The two facades facing the station are composed of elegant and varied shapes, and are accompanied by artistic waterfalls thereby creating the atmosphere of a front yard. Considering the urban scale, a simple and unified design is adopted for the facade facing the streets. The two above-ground buildings are not isolated, rather, they form a building panorama along with Nanjing South Railway Station. The horizontal lines of the buildings and the overhanging eaves of the station jointly create an open and stretching presence.

南京南站南广场在覆盖率和建筑退线等条件限定了建筑的基本形态，因此建筑体量无法完全“溶解”。为达成视觉上的三维复合度，体现盆景式景观的张力，设计在建筑体块横向滑移的基础上配合立体幻觉的平面图案，共同编织错落的立体景观。

However, restricted by coverage rate and building setback lines, the buildings can neither stretch further nor embrace more with the ground. Therefore, in order to reach a three-dimensional visual multiplicity and show the flexibility of landscapes, the designers combine the horizontal slippage of building blocks with three-dimensional graphic designs, which creates an interspersing stereoscopic urban landscape.

尽管本案在中国的都市语境下并不算巨大，建筑师仍然致力于塑造一个微型都市。我们并不希望建筑到处都一样，而是主张建筑和空间既有其内在的秩序又充满着城市的片段感觉。艺术装置和建筑结合成为都市艺术，为规划上强制性的对称格局增添了不少鲜活的气息。紧邻建筑设置的两个下沉广场，和建筑一起组合成穿透地面地下的主题景观。艺术装置人造“流水”从塔楼引入下沉广场之中，模糊地上地下边界，增加了视线的竖向联系，引导人们直达地下空间。另外，一厅（中央下沉广场）、二台（东西下沉广场）、四天井和八小院，把地面活动联动到地下商业广场，形成孔洞众多的“幽园”。“幽园”的地下商业街和连廊连接着南站和周边地块，组合成为一个地下步行中枢。

Although the project is not a large complex development in Chinese context, the design team still makes every effort to explore a miniature city from the design of the building. Instead of having the same face everywhere, they want to see buildings that are orderly but reflective of the segmented feel of a city. The combination of artistic installations and buildings creates an urban art, making the imposed symmetry look livelier. The two sunken squares and the above-ground buildings form a themed landscape which penetrates through the ground and the underground. The artistic installation of artificial waters from the tower buildings to the sunken squares obscures the ground line, creates a vertical visual connection and leads people to the underground space. On the other hand, the central sunken square, east sunken square, west sunken square, four courtyards and eight yards connect above-ground activities to the underground shopping square and form a "secret garden" with many hollows. The underground retail streets and the corridors form an underground walking center which connects the Nanjing South Railway Station and its surrounding areas.

层叠和穿透这两个形态特征，在南京南站南广场的整体构成上得到了深化和推敲，并发展出完善而独特的表现语汇，也就是“叠石”。两个办公建筑，因为层与层之间的滑移，产生一个室内室外的模糊圈层，办公行为内外穿插，不再枯燥。结合太湖石的漏和透的特点，在建筑中不同位置进行掏空。这种掏空的，塑造出空间的丰富性和多变性，增加了不同楼层视线的交流。这些掏空的孔洞不只是空中花园，而是与内部的天井联通，将阳光和自然风引入了建筑之中，起到调节微气候的作用。在掏空的开放区域设置了公共连廊和平台，促成人们更多的交汇，也为日常的交流活动提供优质环境场所。

位于南京南部新城的这个项目创作尝试，就如古画长卷和盆景一般寄托一种对自然的向往。设计采用现代的建筑技艺，融入古风意境，处处展现着古都骄傲的风韵，透露出江南园林的唯美气息。我们更希望藉着建筑设计带来全新的视野和空间，激发人们对新型的生活方式的思考和探索。

The design of this urban complex in Nanjing South New Town is an attempt to articulate the yearning for nature embodied in ancient landscape paintings and miniascapes. The combination of modern architectural techniques and ancient concepts exhibits the proud style of the ancient city of Nanjing, and reveals the aesthetic aura of southern gardens. We hope that the new perspectives and spaces attained in our design would inspire people to explore new lifestyles.
