time and space intertwine, order and disorder fuse, the real and virtual integrate.
MP’s time is about the past, present and future.
“The present” is a hyper-dimensional time point that transcends the past and leaps towards the future.
Guide the visitors to transcend daily experience, and to unconsciously walk in the “MP Studio beyond the present”.
TOMO Design worked with MASONPRINCE to bring a new experience and create a new spatial realm.

没有特定或定型的语言,吸引不同阶层不同年纪不同性别的人群,用潮流的方式探索审美、反思社会现状,关注生活方式,提供服装对人的情绪价值。这是MASONPRINCE团队,讲述的故事。MP的品牌理念与敏锐捕捉的前瞻性设计,不但吸引了一众年轻时尚人群的拥趸,也有诸多明星青睐,成为顶流艺人私服首选。
Without being limited to a certain or fixed language, the clothing designed by MASONPRINCE entices customer groups from different classes, ages and genders. The brand explores aesthetics through fashion, reflects on the social status quo, pays attention to lifestyles, and works to create emotional value for people through clothing. This is the story that MASONPRINCE team tells. MASONPRINCE, with its brand values and visionary, trendy designs, not only wins over many young people, but also attracts some of the most popular celebrities who choose to wear its clothing in their daily life.

在上海时装周‘THE URBAN AFTER PARTY’秀场系列展开线下曝光体验式快闪之后,这个起步于线上,高速发展的年轻国潮品牌,急需为品牌受众群体设立一个新社交媒介与发声地标。在新青年潮人聚集地广州东山口,一座建筑立面上设有“1931”年份标识的独栋老洋房,如同不可扭转的时空牵引力,与MP品牌的复古因子发生奇妙的宇宙效应,成为了MP首店的舞台。
After its offline debut at a pop-up show during Shanghai Fashion Week to present its “The Urban After Party” runway series, the fast-growing young Chinese fashion brand, which had gained its momentum from online social media, urgently needed a new space for its target audience to socialize and amply the voice. At the Dongshankou area in Guangzhou, a rendezvous for stylish young people, an old Western-style house marked with the year “1931” magically resonated with the vintage DNA of MASONPRINCE as if under the influence of an irreversible universal power, and thus became the location of the brand’s first brick-and-mortar store.

MP品牌主张的运动复古与THE GOD PARTICLE的未来科技感风格,冲突却又产生了一种特殊的视觉感官。这样的时尚理念延伸到空间之中,该如何呈现体验?TOMO東木筑造(TOMO)与MASONPRINCE(MP)共同以诠释新体验为目标,将错乱时间轴为叙事链接,引入时空下的“超现在”设计语汇,构建“MP STUDIO”工作场景;以先锋视角和独特载体,架设复古与未来的意识对话,无阶级的特质联动建筑空间,碰撞出无限张力,呈展MP宇宙下的多维时空场域。
The vintage sports style of MASONPRINCE starkly contrasts with the futuristic style of THE GOD PRACTICE, which meanwhile creates a special visual sense. How to present such a fashion philosophy in the store space was a key consideration of the project. TOMO Design worked with MASONPRINCE to bring new experiences through creating a narrative with an interrupted timeline, incorporating a design language that “transcends the present”, and building a work scenario of “MP Studio” in the space. With an avant-garde perspective and via a unique medium, the design creates a dialogue between the past and the future. It connects the brand’s classless concept with the space, brings out unbounded dynamics and showcases a multi-dimensional time-space realm of the MASONPRINCE universe.

以“MP STUDIO”为主体来构建场景,
运用“时空错乱轴”为思维秩序,
构建“时间与工作场景”为话题概念。
“1931-2023-2231”过去、现在、未来产生多元交织的超维时间点
在“错乱时间轴”的概念下,这三个时间点的关系并不是线性的,而是交错的。
在这个时间系统中,时间的流逝变得不可预测和不可控制。
“现在”将被冻结,“过去”与“未来”会替代“现在”成为“超现在”在“超现在”中,
时间交叠、空间错乱
“过去”“现在”“未来”三个节点毫无秩序的进行排列……

The past, present and future interweave, generating several hyper-dimensional time points.
Based on the concept of “reserved timeline”, the three time points are not linear in relationship, but are interweaving.
In this time system, the passage of time becomes unpredictable and uncontrollable.
“Present” is to be frozen. “Past” and “future” will replace “present”, and reach a state of “transcend the present”,
where time overlaps and space is disordered.
The three time points, namely past, present and future, are interweaved out of order.

模糊时间边界,是过去,是未来的似是而非领域
反向时间轴1931年代表“MP”城市的地点
正向时间轴2023年同一城市的地点进行对比和映射,
在同一地点中同时呈现这两个时间点的城市界面。
Blurring the boundaries of time, it is related to the past, the plausible realm of the future.
1931 on the reversed timeline represents the urban location that the MP store sits,
while 2023 on the forward timeline indicates a contrast of the same urban location at a different time point.
The design presents the urban interface of a same place at both time points.

场域构造:
时空边界(建筑立面与门头)/时空扭曲域(前场花园)/启程点(公交站)
Spatial scenes: time-space boundary (facade and storefront), blurred time dimension (front garden), departure point (bus station)
一道绿色渐变透明玻璃化为时空边界,似乎将“当下”隔绝在外,却又渗入其中。
模糊空间边界,是存在于现实与虚构之间的领域。
它既可以是我们已知的物理空间,也可以是想象中的虚拟空间。
A green gradient transparent glass acts as a boundary that seems to separate the store from “the present”, but also builds up a connection between them.
The blurred boundary creates a middle field in between reality and the fictional world.
It can be a physical space that we already know, or a virtual space in our imagination.

In the field, the present and the past intertwine with each other. It can be a mysterious labyrinth or a boundless universe that invites the wildest imagination.
As visitors venture to explore the MASONPRINCE universe, they may also become aware of the uncertainty and impact behind the boundary.

故事的起点以错乱时空的公交站台为场景,MP画报以站点广告的形态,昭示着这场穿越旅程的故事核心,亦是这段“超现在”旅程的启程点。在时空扭曲域中,切入独属于MP的24小时后的第25个小时——“WORK IN-25:00MP”。
The story starts from a bus station where the order of time is lost. A series of MASONPRINCE posters, presented in the form of a bus station advertisement, unveils the core narrative of the time travel and marks the beginning of a journey that “transcends the present”. In a field with an interrupted timeline, visitors will find “WORK IN-25:00MP”, the 25th hour in a day that belongs only to MASONPRINCE.

重叠时间维度,是未来,是现在的宇宙地区映照场
正向时间轴2023年代表“MP”地区的格子图像
超向时间轴2231年的星系布阵图像进行重叠和映照,
在同一个图像中同时呈现不同时间点的同一空间景象。
The overlapping time dimension is the future, and a reflection of the present cosmic regions.
2023 of the forward timeline represents a grid image of the area where the MP store locates,
while year 2231 on the hyper-directional timeline overlaps and mirrors the image of the galaxy array.
The same spatial scene at different time points is presented in the same image.

MP宇宙的营业时间:“0:00~25:00”,超脱24小时之外的1小时,在门后缓缓展开。
步入其中,超向时间轴反转——时空由当下转入2231的未来,由代号“MP.01”超人类迎接着来客。
现在与未来的时空交叠中,空间内蔓延着物质的冲突。
The 1 hour beyond 24 hours unfolds slowly behind the door.
As the visitors enter the store, the timeline reverses from the present to the future of 2231. Here the visitors will be greeted by a super human known as “MP.01”.
As the present and the future overlap, the space is infused with a sense of conflicts between different substances.

Videos about MASONPRINCE are played on a screen, which is like a time mailbox that delivers fashion packages to time travelers who visit the store.
The interplay between the future and the present within the space and the contrasts it creates bring a unique experience to the visitors.
As the interrupted timeline extends deeper into the space, vagueness and contrast develop in the spatial functions and the expression of substances.

The “vintage office” turns into a special existence in the creation ground of MASONPRINCE.
The interrupted timeline and blurred boundaries between the present and the future offer an anchor that extends beyond the dimension of time, providing the ultimate way to interpret the functions of different areas within the space.
The textural comparison between “present” and “future”, the collision between functions and scenarios,
and the connection of spaces, produce unique aesthetics exclusive to MP, which stimulates visitors’ curiosity and desire for exploration.

分解时间意识,是过去,是现在的时空顺序意象场,
时空顺序再反转,
反向时间轴1931年所代表“MP”内心映射观念,
出现在正向时间轴2023年的空间重叠中,
代表了空间原有的记忆片段的分解式重叠与意识流。
By decomposing time consciousness, it’s about the past and the time sequential imagery field of the present.
The order of time is reversed.
The year 1931 in the reversed timeline represents the inner mapping concept of MP,
and it appears in the spatial overlap of the year 2023 in the forward timeline,
embodying the decomposed overlap and stream of consciousness of the original memory fragments in the space.

踏上时空跃迁的楼梯,一侧斑驳一侧光亮,在过去与当下的对话中,隐喻着下段旅程的交织。
斑驳做旧的台面诉说时光,却打磨精致。
复古的木质衣橱,却陈列饰品。
正经危坐的办公室里,却放着“泳池”。
戏谑与意外在这里却毫无违和,不设限的天马行空。
The staircase, marking a leap in time and space, is in between one rustic wall and one shiny wall, implying the dialogue between the past and present in the next journey.
The distressed tabletop is finely polished, whilst telling the story of time.
The retro wooden wardrobe displays accessories.
A formal office accommodates a bathtub.
With no limitations, the space is full of imagination, where absurdity and surprises are so natural here.

复古的打印机嗞嗞运作,中古办公桌上的老式电脑和大哥大,外化的提炼过往的元素,
相比当下,时间的节奏在回到过去后,似乎慢下了脚步。
MP世界在此化身30年代的服装车间运作场,一字排开的陈列台犹如复古的流水线,而光洁的现代材料又无时不刻的提醒着当下的时空。
Vintage items, such as a printer, a computer and a first-generation mobile phone on a retro desk, are brought into the space. Those elements bring people back to the past, and make time seem to slow down here.
“MP Studio” turns into a clothing workshop in the 1930s here. The linear show stands resemble old-fashioned assembly lines, while their smooth modern surfaces are a constant reminder of the present.

Next to the workshop, the reception room is illuminated by the flickering “firelight”, which brings a touch of vitality into a vintage ambience. Ubiquitous contrasts and shocks create an experience beyond reality and bring the storyline to its climax.

The combination of plots and scenarios creates a spatial narrative with an abnormal timeline, providing a new experience to visitors. The space conveys the values of MASONPRINCE – adhering to the original intention, breaking boundaries and never setting limitations, and leads visitors to perceive the power of “transcending the present” and the brand’s classless spirits.
