PART1：Dong asks Anna

1：什么样的建筑是好的？什么样的建筑算是新的？

安娜：新的不等于好，好的建筑带给我们更好改变的希望，好的建筑具有多重意义（有故事可讲和有可学习的内容），好的建筑触发人的情感并能创造一种特殊的体验，好建筑对环境具有感知力（自然和社区）。 新的建筑可以提供对事物有意义的新层次：尚未表达过的价值。 新建筑也可以回答了过去从未被提问的问题。 新的建筑是你无法用平面图，立面图甚至分析图可以描述的东西：这些并不足以表达 - 你应该真切实际的住在里面。 这种新可以是咸的，甜的，感人的，厚脸皮的，丑的，可爱的，脏的，闪亮的 - 但肯定不是乏味的。

01: What kind of architecture is good and what kind of architecture is new?

Anna：New doesn't equal good. Good architecture gives us hope for a change for better,  good architecture has a meaning (story to tell and lesson to learn), good architecture provokes some emotions in human and creates a special experience, good architecture is empathetic to the environment (nature and community). New architecture is about adding a new layer of meaning into an object: the value never expressed before. New architecture also answers the question never asked before. New is something you can not describe with flat facade, plan or diagram: it is simply not enough - you should live in it. New is salty, sweet, touching, cheeky, ugly, cute, dirty, shining - but never boring.

02：你认为DA!的特质是什么？我们的价值所在在哪里？

安娜：我们的DA！ 价值并不仅在我身上，也不仅在你身上：但恰恰在我们两者之间不同的夹缝之中。 我们来自不同的地方，我们是西方和东方的孩子，但共同朝着同一个阳光成长。 在我们的工作中，希望我们可以平衡人与自然，天空与地面，男性与女性，倾听和交谈。 我们间隙就像米开朗基罗的创作绘画中，或是在Alvaro Siza的建筑的中，这间隙就像是一个空间，未完成的，未连接的，意外的，不同的。 这间隙就是我们创作能量可以诞生的地方。

02: what’s the identities of DA! do you think? What’s the value we are?

Anna：Our DA! value lays not in me, and not in you: but precisely in the gap between us two. We come from different grounds, we are kids of West and East, but grow towards one sun. In our work, we can balance nature and human, sky and ground, male and female, listen and talk. This gap between us is the gap like a gap in Michelangelo’s Adam creation painting, or in Alvaro Siza’s buildings, it is like a space for. Something unfinished, unconnected, unexpected, disagreeing, non-understanding. The gap, where the electricity can be born.

03：DA!的创造力源泉和激情是什么？我们应该怎样思考并且发现它？

安娜：我们都生活在地球上，这个星球是

03: what’s the creative resource and passion of DA!? How should we keep on thinking and finding it?

Anna：We live on a planet Earth, and this planet is an unlimited source for inspiration (compared to fossil resources, which have certain limits, ideas are unlimited: the more you share, the bigger it becomes), as soon as you keep your eyes wide open. Curiosity - kid alike - is the main principle to keep our hearts open and sensitive to the world we live in. At the same time, the fusion engine for creation is only inside us. We can extract endless meanings just from each other. From listening to your monologue, I come to new ideas, from staring on my drawings you get inspiration; from practices of discussing, criticizing, writing and drawing we can extract some common values for our projects.

01：你认为当前的建筑实践应该摆脱一些东西吗？

东：职业的建筑往往追求正确的和更重要的做法，但这常常会固守和限制，我对好建筑的定义应该是独特的，有启发性的，有趣的，带有情感的，追求创造力必须时刻保持一种归零的心态，追问建筑的本质，明确我们希望达到的目标，同时保持对职业做法的批判意识，带着孩子般的好奇心尝试新的可能性。职业建筑中的尺度比例，功能与形式，材料的做法，常规的美学，严格的规范等都值得重新审视和研究，每一项都有新的突破的可能性。建筑是介于人与自然之间的情感媒介，在漫长的人类进化发展史中，一代一代的创造者通过对于自然的理解和感受，创造出建筑和文明，因此归根结底大自然才是创造力的源泉，我们要重新向大自然中学习，调动感受力和创造力，尽情的表达自己对这个世界的认知与希望。

01: Do you think the current architecture practice should get rid of something?

Dong:Professional buildings tend to pursue correct and more important methodologies, but this approach is often too conservative and limited. My definition of good architecture is that it should be unique, inspiring, interesting, emotional, and creative. Maintaining a return-to-zero mentality, we question the essence of architecture, clarify what we hope to achieve, while maintaining a critical awareness of professional practices, and experimenting with new possibilities with childlike curiosity. In professional building methods, the scale ratios, functions and forms, the practices of the materials, the conventional aesthetics, the strict norms, etc. are worth re-examining and re-creating, and each has the potential for new breakthroughs. Architecture is an emotional medium between man and nature. In the long history of human evolution, generations of creators create architecture and civilization through understanding and feeling of nature, so in the end, nature is a creative source, we must re-learn from nature, mobilize sensibility and creativity, and express our own understanding and hope of the world.

02：你觉得在我们的生命中建筑事业会有什么样的未来？

东：建筑师是我们的身份，也是我们为之奋斗一生的理想，建筑不仅可以表达我们对世界的认知与希望，同时也是千秋万代的事业，任何人都生活在建筑里，建筑可以影响人们的起居坐卧和对幸福的感知，因此我们必须对建筑抱有敬畏之情，谦和的，带着善意的，充满激情的工作去改善人类的生存环境。梦想就是希望在有生之年能够创作建造出两三栋可以写进建筑史作为文明记载的伟大的建筑，我们建筑工作的重点应该是具有有文明价值的建筑，不断的去挑战，去证明自己。

02：What kind of future do you think will be for architecture in our lifetime?

Dong:Architecture is not only a career, but it is the way of living. Architecture not only expresses our understanding and hope for the world, but also the shapes future generations. Everyone lives in the building, so the building can affect people's daily life. Sitting and lying, feeling happy and sad, jaw-dropping buildings and modest ones, kind and passionate - all these are living environment of human beings. Our dream is that in our lifetime, we can create two or three great buildings which can be written into the history of architecture as a record of civilization. The focus of our construction work should be on buildings marking values of our civilization, constantly challenging and proving ourselves.

03：我们会有什么样的伟大想法人们会记得住？

东：无论多么好的想法还是要落到实践，只有实践才能出真知，伟大想法也永远会在实践中诞生，我们的建筑生涯刚刚启程，未来还无法确知，但我相信也希望，我们的建筑可以打破一些常规，带来新的革新与改变，并且能够传递出更加具有情感的属于人类未来的价值观。

03: What is our big idea people can remember forever?

Dong: No matter how good the idea is, it still has to fall into practice. Only practice can tell the truth. Great ideas will always be born in practice. Our construction career has just started, and the future is still uncertain, but I believe and hope that our Architecture can break some conventions, bring new innovations and changes, and deliver more emotional values that are future for humanity.
