Quadrangle Architects have won an Association of Registered Interior Designers of Ontario (ARIDO) Award of Merit for the customizable merchandising system they designed for fashion collective Due West’s flagship location at 431 Queen Street West. The ARIDO Awards showcase excellence, innovation and originality in interior design. Since 1982, ARIDO has been recognizing the exceptional work of ARIDO members with this annual awards program that also serves to raise public awareness of the power and effect of interior design among the Ontario public. The 2015 ARIDO Awards were presented at a Gala on Wednesday, September 16th at The Hilton Toronto Hotel. Quadrangle redesigned Due West’s 2,750sq.ft. space, located in the heart of Queen West’s clothing district, to reflect the fashion collective’s updated brand and high quality merchandise. They transformed the store’s entire volume into a single, fully customizable display—the unified metal system weaves its way around the store integrating lighting, walls, ceiling and merchandising fixtures, providing areas for dense merchandise and moments for curated visual vignettes. Quadrangle designed the flexible system to address the requirements of seasonal clothing sales—the bespoke merchandising system can be reconfigured in the spring and fall. Reflecting on this recognition George Foussias, Senior Associate and lead project designer at Quadrangle declared, “We are thrilled to receive this recognition from ARIDO for a project that transformed a congested retail space into an integrated and luxurious retail environment that supports Due West’s brand.”
