创新板材应用，Flex 家具展现弹性魅力

“Flex”系列是QIU工作室2019年开展的产品研究项目。这一次他们选择了“板材”作为研究对象，进一步探讨该材料的应用方式。在板材应用上市面比较常见的处理方式，就是采用了多层板曲压的加工方法、以及弯曲板和板材的精密拼接，包括对板材进行改性，方便制作应用。

The series of Flex is a self-led research & design project that conducted by QIU in 2019. In this project, QIU have selected ” plywood ” as the subject for research to further explore the possibilities of this material. Currently the most common way of using plywood is with the technic of multi-layer pate bending, bended plate, precise splicing and also the modifications of the material nature to facilitate the production and application of plywood on furniture.

QIU工作室将弹性橡胶与刚性板材相结合；将板材挖槽后，回填橡胶材料，（创造板材材料的弹性和张力），由此延伸出板材新的应用方向。Flex系列，就是以上述材料创新，演绎出板材三类不同具体应用方向。

What QIU have done differently is to combine the rubber with rigid plywood – after excavating the plywood, filling the gap with rubber, which have successfully created new natures of plywood to be stretchable and elasticity. And the series of FLEX is the real product development based on the above material innovations to express specifically three possible directions on furniture application.

人体肌肉有着细腻的感受器。颈部，背部，腰部，臀部，对支撑力有不一样的需求。Flex椅依此安排了铣削路径，刚直的座椅却内含柔软。

Human muscle has really delicate sensor that neck, back, waist and hip all have different requirements for support. Therefore, the FLEX chair has embedded a corresponding milling path on the back to give support for different parts of body. It is a solid chair that has strong support while contains soft flex capability.

Flex电视柜上的可卷曲门板赋予了柜子新的开合交互方式。滑动打开时，门板弯曲，板材缝隙中的橡胶被挤压，产生回弹的张力，挤压橡胶产生回弹滑动。

The rollable door-panels on FLEX cabinet has make a new way of opening and closing for it to engage with the users. When door opens, the panel slides to bent, which therefore produces elasticity power for bouncing and further squeeze the filled rubbers to enable the path of bounce-back.

Flex三人长凳展示了压力与支撑力的平衡，同时因形变而产生的位移让多人形成微妙的互动。

The Flex bench has demonstrated the balance of compress and support power. When multiple people seat on the bench, the produced pressure stimulates the support functions and creates the move of positions and shape along the bench, which is also an interesting connection and interaction for seated people.
