By introducing light, views, and warmth, LOC transforms an industrial warehouse in the heart of Seattle into a thriving creative workplace. LOC designed this 18,000 sf headquarters for Seattle based True Brands; a company of 150 creatives designing, developing, and producing beverage lifestyle accessories available nationwide. LOC was tasked with creating an open collaborative space to allow team members to engage effectively in creating the most cutting edge products.
To transform an existing 12,000 Sf dark but voluminous storage warehouse into a collaborative and creative space for a team of 150 to design and a market an ever-expanding line of products.
How to create warmth in a cold, hard concrete shell.
How to introduce natural light into this partially subterranean structure with few existing windows. Natural light has a proven impact on productivity, creativity, and overall morale.
The client, True Brands, is a highly creative and innovative product design and marketing company whose alcoholic beverage accessories, such as wine bags, corkscrews, etc., can be found at retailers nationwide. Their team works creatively to define new consumer niches and to develop new brands to meet them.
Warmth was introduced by the extensive use of wood in the structures that were introduced into the space. The framing of the mezzanines and bridge are of architectural glu-lam beams, and many of the new spaces were clad in rotary cut doug-fir plywood to introduce organic color and grain textures to offset the concrete.
