The project is located in Snail Bay area of Kunming, which was once a wholesale market and prospered at that time. However,with the area unresponsive to its changing environs and was gradually abandoned. In order to revitalize the land, the government upgraded the original site and replanned the surrounding area around Central Lake Park. The city exhibition hall is designed to show the future development of Luoyshi Bay area.

The old building to be renovating has been abandoned for five years,but is adjacent to Central Lake Park and has excellent natural landscape resources. The challenge was to replan the interior and activate the exterior realm without changing the structure of the building.

The designers’ strategy is to remove the external wall, a large-area glass curtain wall is used on the side facing the natural landscape, which makes the indoor space vision completely open.

The lake water is introduced into the building, and the regular pool and the natural lake surface form the visual effect of overlapping. The corridor connects the indoor and outdoor space, and at the same time breaks the monotonous water surface space, which enriches the landscape level of the pool.
