Nijiabang Bridge (also known as Wangzhi Bridge) is a pedestrian bridge of the Shanghai Pudong East Bund run-through connection project, and one of the three pedestrian bridges designed by Atelier GOM.

The scale of this pedestrian bridge is close to an installation in large public spaces due to its 30-meter small span. Considering the circulation of this bridge, that is, pedestrian, running, and bicycling, this bridge is split into two independent parts according to the speed and the slope needed: the arch bridge serves pedestrians and running while the suspension bridge serves bicycles. Also, the arch bridge and the suspension bridge is the most economical way to cross the river. In other words, this way of splitting is a universal prototype that satisfies function and construction.

Besides being split vertically, this bridge is also split horizontally by two convex curves, an arc and a chamfered polyline. Therefore, the load in the middle of the bridge will be reduced and an eye-like gap is formed in between.

This bridge was not designed to be closed at the beginning. In order to comply with the overall layout, it was necessary to add a stop point as a shelter from rain. Therefore, a curved pitch roof was formed automatically after the contour handrail was raised, the roof was added and the horizontal structure was connected. The last step is to enclose the large pieces of glass with gap ventilation outside the two bridges. Therefore, Nijiabang Bridge, which is closer to an installation instead of an ordinary bridge, was born.
