PORT25 | corporate office | SIGNATURE INTERNATIONAL HQ OFFICEBuilt above an existing 2 storeys office block at Kota Damansara, PORT25 has created a new administration level with a new theatre hall and event space for the biggest and renown kitchen specialist in Malaysia, Signature Kitchen (Signature International Berhad) .Due to the growth of the company, we have been tasked to create an extension office space above the existing M&E reinforced concrete roof level to fulfil the company expansion programme.By exploring the engineering and spatial possibilities of the limited area of the existing roof area, we have created a new steel structure extension that is detached from the existing production factory block behind. This has created an cozy built-environment where all working space are naturally lit through floor to ceiling full height glazing all around.A new elevated staircase is created as the main access to the new floor above. Positioned above an existing reinforced concrete staircase, this new lightweight steel staircase structure with black engineered stone steps are suspended from the new steel roof structure via powder coated steel rods along its perimeter and serve as safety railing as well.The design concept for the new office space evolve from the core business (Signature Kitchen) of modular kitchen system which dominate the local market has a deep understanding on craftmanship and attention to detail united with aesthetic and functionality.PORT25 has devised a modular aluminium ‘grid’ system as the interior element to tie all the requirement and program together. Using an aluminium square hollow section with powder coated (in selected brass tone). We has been working closely with the Signature Kitchen’s R&D team, with multiple prototyping for the ‘grid’ module system. Finally, a 350 x 350mm expandable ‘grid’ module system which can flexibly expended vertically and horizontally, is strategically positioned throughout the new extension to function as a screen, division, shelving, ceiling and feature simultaneously, while maintaining visibility and expressing the finest of the company system kitchen. team: cheeyoong, keankong, nyapshinclient: Signature International Berhadlocation: Kota Damansara, Selangor, Malaysiayear: Dec 2017
