The project is located in a plot of Quinta do Regato, Bobadela, next to an olive oil mill, so it is proposed to make a compromise between this and the museum that presents itself as a "ironic" continuation, from the work labour to the art.
Influenced by the iconic and almost popular architecture of Arch. Pancho Guedes, who at the time read and researched, and who also sometimes developed projects in "small environments" in Mozambique, I thought of a way that linked the theme to the building and was easily recognized by the "people" of the region, and thus naturally came the idea of transforming the theme into a space traversable through an olive branch.
The building is meant to placing and exposing the collection of antiques of Mr. António Dias, the owner of various olive oil mills in the region, that as been collecting olive oil linked antiques throughout is life and it is posicioned to adapt to the new terrain modelling and privileges the view in certain, more opened, spaces (restaurant) to Serra da Estrela "closing" more in others to maintain a closer approach to the shape originally designed and privilege the exhibitions and other functions it houses.
This building was designed to blend in with the surrounding nature, due to its colors and materials, as well as its layout in the surrounding terrain and vegetation.
The spaces are intended to have a height compatible with the very different antiques that each is housing. The overall design of the building was intended to maintain the integrity of the spaces in relation to what they represent as a metaphor and at the same time to keep them functional.
