The Regent Street Association awarded joint first place to London practices Squire and Partners and Al Jawad Pike for their RIBA Regent Street Window installations, held during the London Design Festival in September 2014.
Squire and Partners’ installation for Brooks Brothers was conceived around shared values of heritage, craftsmanship and quality. The concept drew on the iconic Golden Fleece, featuring two crafted sculptures comprised of the over eight hundred handmade sheep suspended on golden threads which combine to make two Golden Fleeces, the precise construction of which illustrates the immaculate detailing of a Brooks Brothers product.
Al Jawad Pike’s installation for Penhaligon’s drew on the rich history of perfume making and its origins in distillation and chemistry. Inspired by evocative fragrances they created a labyrinthine construction of blown glassware filled with raw ingredients from which the perfumes are extracted, held within a three-dimensional lattice of copper pipe. The final installation incorporated over 150 glass flasks, 120 metres of copper pipe and nearly 1000 copper connectors.
