Eastern culture is rich with contradiction: old/new, ancient/high tech, permanent/ephemeral. Our concept for Sky Asian Bistro in the Philadelphia International Airport was about exploring the reason why cherry blossoms are so celebrated in Eastern cultures ― for their short-lived beauty. Our juxtaposition in the space was in pairing the ephemeral cherry blossom with the beauty of permanent tattoo art. And like an Eastern city, we layered patterns, textures, colors, light, information and visual stimuli to create an ordered mosaic.
