Belenko Design Studio designed Moderna Pizza to have the feel of a food hall but with style and sophistication within the industrial designs.
The concept offered by Belenko Design studio for Moderna Pizza is in perceptions you can feel when entering the street food market. It is the space where you expect nothing but food and are welcomed by an open kitchen with its special high-tech oven for pizza/bread.
Moderna Pizza is located in the city of Dnipro, Ukraine, in the constructivist pre-revolutionary building of the late 19th century, which had hosted Volodarskyi HubShveiProm sewing factory. Belenko studio decided not to conceal the building’s industrial origin, but on the contrary—to make its flaws and multiple stucco layers its worth and to preserve it as a memory about the historic building.
The two-story Moderna Pizza building has around 600 square m and approximately 150 seats mainly at 6-metre solid wood common tables. The mirror cascade ceiling which multiples space on the inside and outside as well as people and food on the tables creates a festive atmosphere. The armchairs are made of restored tram seats. Everything here was manufactured by Belenko people themselves.
The studio’s architects cared for inclusiveness as well by equipping the entrance with a convenient ramp—thus they created a spacious lobby.
