Lazard is the world's leading financial advisory and asset management firm, advising on mergers, acquisitions, restructuring, capital structure and strategy. IA referred Space Matrix Australia to refresh Lazard’s office, as the client was splitting the tenancy to return a portion back to the landlord and consolidate within the retained portion. This was a signature project for our partnership with IA, showcasing our boutique approach through strong client management locally.

We were expected to redesign a stunning, new pantry/breakout area that could serve as both the front-of-house and back-of-house and serve as part of the employee and client experience. The client wanted a clean, minimal, modern aesthetic that reflected the timeless nature of the business. More importantly, the design was to reinforce a common and consistent design language throughout the tenancy that was previously missing. The client desired a space that they could feel proud to take clients through. They also wanted to make the space feel large and open, given the overall reduction of floor area, with concealed storage so as to discourage any hoarding of material and maintain its modern minimalist look.

Our design extended the framed partitions into the open plan. By doing this, we did not have to implement glazed vinyl films for compliance resulting in greater transparency between spaces, extending and maximising natural light throughout the floor plate. Our design was simple in finish selection but through clever contrasting created a modern timeless space that is easy to maintain & functional.

We also opened up the ceiling within the breakout space to make the space feel larger even though it was smaller in area compared to the previous breakout area. We also introduced framed photography of other Lazard key tenancies that reinforces Lazard's established brand.
