Project Year:2018
Category:Private Houses
The project in question involves the renovation and expansion of an existing residential building.
The peculiarity of the area, suggested a building intervention that respects the pre-existing typological features, enhancing them through attention to detail, choice of local materials and viewpoint studies, defined by the surrounding landscape.
The building is composed by three duplex residential units. The expansion is mainly developed on the south-east side, so as to rebalance the existing planimetric layout.
The extension consists of three volumes with simple and clean shapes projecting on the south-east elevation, integrating with the existing building due to the continuity of materials and their treatment.
The first volume, obtained by expanding the living space of the ground floor to the south and east, builds the base of the whole, and as such, it is covered with irregular local stone elements. Large windows with larch wood shutters find their place on it.
The second volume consists of a trapezoidal parallelepiped projecting over the base where larch wood is used at the same time as wall masonry and sunshade element: the windows and openings will be screened with appropriate technical brise soleil solutions.
The third, smaller volume develops on the second floor defined by the trapezoidal shape of the enlargement on the first floor.
The two parallelepipeds interact with the rest of the building reflecting the inclination of the existing roofpitch.
