Davide Conti（大卫·康迪）: 意大利室内设计师

DF：How long have you been in China? Talk about what attracts you most in China.

DF：您来中国多久了？谈谈中国最吸引您的地方。

Davide Conti：I am in China since 2014, I arrive and before I was in Ningbo for 2 years, now I live and based in Shanghai, life change completely because Ningbo and Shanghai have different lifestyle but im so happy to experience China. China for western people it is something very far to think, many mystery and things to discover. The first things attract me it is the Chinese culture, which is very interesting but also very difficult to discover for Chinese people, so I think I still have to stay and learn a lot.

Davide Conti：我2014年来到中国，曾在宁波工作过两年，现在在上海生活和工作。宁波和上海的生活节奏大不相同，所以我在生活上的转变也很大。在中国的生活经历让我感到很愉快，中国对于西方人来说，这是一个非常遥远的概念，有着许多神秘和事物有待发现。最吸引我的是中国文化，这对我来说非常有意思，中国文化甚至对中国人来说也很难理解，所以我认为我要留下来学习的东西还有很多。

DF：How do you integrate the local Chinese design style with your personal style?

DF：您是如何把中国本地的设计风格和您的个人风格融合在一起的？

Davide Conti：There is not a fixed rule in the design, the style need to be adjust on the request of the clients and our taste in the company. There is 2 way, or the clients give us an empty paper to draw, so we follow our ideas totally and sensibility to approach the projects, or if the clients have some specific request we follow him and balance our design style and taste in the best way. In this case, we approach the local style with a lot of respect, we like to keep the Chinese architecture and combine the interior design in a modern way and contemporary functionality for the people.

Davide Conti：设计是没有固定规则的，风格需要根据客户的要求和公司的定位来进行调整。通常有两种情况：一是客户给我们一张白纸让我们来绘制，所以我们可以完全按照我们的想法和理解来开始项目。二是如果客户有一些特定的要求，我们会根据这些要求找到与我们的设计风格和品位之间的最好的平衡办法。在这种情况下，我们非常尊重当地风格，保留中国建筑特色，将现代室内设计与现代功能相结合。

DF：Can you talk about your favorite designer and why do you like him?

DF：能不能聊聊您最喜欢的设计师，以及喜欢他的原因？

Davide Conti：My favorite designer? This is a good question is not easy because there is many master in the design field, but if I can choose one, I would like to choose Leonardo da Vinci. Was he a designer? Maybe. That is the point, Leonardo teach us the importance of keeping an opening mind in the life…and that make the difference. He was so curious to discover many things and continue to study until he died. He teach me how to approach different project with open mind and creativity. Leonardo I think was the first designer solve the problem of many clients, someone was asking paint, someone sculpture, someone war machine and much more, and he put all his passion and hard work to make it. That’s create the value in every of his project and make him a genius.

Davide Conti：我最喜欢的设计师吗？这是一个好问题，但并不容易回答，因为设计界有很多大师，但如果我需要选择一个，我想选择莱昂纳多·达·芬奇。莱昂纳多告诉我们在生活中保持开放思想的重要性，并且这也将创造不同。他对很多事物都充满好奇心，并且一直保持学习状态直到他去世。他也教会我如何以开放的心态和丰富的创造力来处理不同的项目。我认为莱昂纳多是一个解决许多类型客户问题的设计师，有人向他要画作，有人向他要雕塑，有人向他要战机等，他把所有的热情和努力都付诸于实践。这为他的每一个项目创造了价值，并使他成为一个天才。

DF：How can you keep your design inspiration flowing?

DF：您是怎么样能让自己保持源源不断的设计灵感？

Davide Conti：It is very easy for me, because I love to live the life, watch the people, watch the sky, watch the animals, watch the nature, read about world, and study what new happened to the peoples and designers in the world. What is that? Curiosity, only the curiosity help me to be creative and support my design originality. There is no design if there is no curiosity to discover new things and the happiness and passion to make always-new things.

Davide Conti：保持灵感，这对我来说很容易，因为我是一个热爱生活的人。我喜欢观察人、天空、动物、自然，去感受世界，研究和学习新颖的事物。好奇心是最重要的，它可以帮助我创造并支持我产生灵感。我认为如果没有快乐、激情、好奇心去发现新事物，那就没有设计。

DF：What do you think is the most important thing in designing? What makes you happy in the design world?

DF：您觉得做设计最重要的是什么？设计中最让你开心的事是什么？

Davide Conti：The relations between people. Design is just an instrument for me, design it’s something need make easy life, or happy life to the people, so design need to be for the beauty of the life and the core of that it’s the people, us. I am happy when there is respect between clients and designer, there is reasonable decision, and when we can talk with clients and work step-to-step together for the best results. That’s sometimes it’s just a dream, now the life its very fast, people don’t have time to be together and sharing, but at least kindness and respect need to be at the base of the work. The human soul makes me happy in the design world.

Davide Conti：做设计最重要的是处理好人与人之间的关系。设计对我来说只是一种工具，通过设计可以让人们过上轻松、幸福的生活，所以设计的核心还是人，设计必须为生活而美。设计中最让我开心的事情莫过于客户和我们互相尊重、互相理解，配合提出合理的方案，这样我们与客户交谈时就可以一步一步地寻求最佳结果。有时做到这一点很难，只是一个梦想，因为现代生活节奏非常快，人们很少有在一起分享的时间，但至少善意和尊重需要成为工作的基础。人类灵魂之美让我对设计总是充满乐趣。

DF：What kind of person are you in your life. What other interests and hobbies do you have besides design?

DF：您在生活中是个什么样的人，除了设计还有哪些兴趣爱好？

Davide Conti：I am very simple person and I like to be simple. Simplicity help me to read the world with calm approach and just in this conditions, I can express my passion, my creativity and myself. I like to enjoy the life with friends and family, paint and take photos, go to museum and art gallery, travel and enjoy food. Indeed, I love to cook, that relaxes me a lot, and it is an exercise for the creativity. How many different dish we can create? Mix Italian and Chinese food, different taste, colors and experience the culture of different country just at home with different ingredients, I love it.

Davide Conti：我是一个很简单的人，我喜欢简单。简单帮助我以冷静的方式观察世界，在这种情况下，我可以表达我的激情、我的创造力和我自己。我喜欢与朋友和家人一起享受生活，绘画、摄影、参观博物馆和美术馆、到处旅行和享受美食。并且，我非常喜欢烹饪，这让我很放松，同时也锻炼了我的创造力。我们可以创造多少种不同的菜呢？混合意大利和中国食材、不同的口味、颜色、体验不同国家的文化、不同的配料，我喜欢这种创造的感觉。

DF：What do you think will be the development trend of interior design in the future?

DF：您认为未来的室内设计会有怎么样的发展趋势？

Davide Conti：This it is a very interesting question, because the trend depends on the development situation of the different countries. However, as an Italian interior designer in china so let us talk about China. For sure, the next trend will related with the bathroom and kitchen, more relaxing space in the bathroom, like a small spa at home with many functions and new products. In addition, for the kitchen, that is special space for Chinese people, it will be bigger, comfortable, with oven, and western style functionality, because people now start to have an international life. Therefore, the challenge it will be also for the kitchen company because they need found balance between the Chinese traditional kitchen and the new request of the market. In the future, we will see many trends become true in the market.

Davide Conti：这是一个非常有趣的问题，因为室内设计的发展趋势取决于世界上不同的国家的发展情况。但作为在中国的意大利室内设计师，我们可以谈谈中国。我认为，下一个趋势将关系到到厨浴，更多的浴室放松空间，比如一个小型的多功能新产品家庭水疗。此外，厨房对中国人来说是一个特殊的空间，它会比之前更宽敞、舒适并且配备有烤箱和西式厨房功能，因为人们现在开始了国际化的生活。这对厨房家具公司来说也是一个挑战，因为他们需要在中国传统厨房与新的市场需求之间找到平衡点。在未来，我们将看到许多趋势在市场上成为现实。

DF：What are your plans for the future of your studio?

DF：关于您工作室的未来，您有何规划？

Davide Conti：Since I open my studio in Italy and then in China, we are continue to working very well and grow every year. I do not care become a company with 100 people inside. I want to keep the studio small and with a team can be first fiend and then work colleague. Therefore, the future I can see for our studio it is continue to have this approach, first humanity than work. We work for be happy, we first live, than we work. That will help me, our team to be satisfied like it happened now, and that can give us the right mind to face the new projects and challenge. Pursuing quality not quantity it is our goal, for the present and for the future.

Davide Conti：自我在意大利开设工作室之后，然后在中国开设工作室以来，我们一直努力向上，并且每年都在成长。我想要的不是一个拥有100人的公司，更希望保持小规模的工作团队，并与团队成员可以日常是朋友，然后工作是同事。因此，未来我们的工作室也会保持这样的理念，首先是人性而不是工作。我们工作是为了快乐，我们首先生活，而不是工作。这对我非常有益，我们的团队会像现在一样感到满意，这可以让我们正确地面对新项目和挑战。无论是现在还是将来，追求质量而非数量是我们的目标。
