Architects Simona Malvezzi, Wilfried Kuehn and Johannes Kuehn founded Kuehn Malvezzi in Berlin in 2001. Public spaces, museums and exhibitions are the main focus of their work as architects, designers and curators. They realized the architectural design for Documenta 11, the Friedrich Christian Flick Collection in the Hamburger Bahnhof – Museum for Contemporary Art in Berlin, as well as the Julia Stoschek Collection in Dusseldorf, which was nominated for the international Mies van der Rohe Award. The firm has designed the reorganization of a number of contemporary and historical art collections, attending to sensitive preservation issues for listed buildings, such as the Museum Belvedere in Vienna, the Liebieghaus in Frankfurt, the Museum Berggruen and the Museum of Decorative Arts in Berlin, as well as the Herzog Anton Ulrich Museum in Brunswick.

Working across continents from Africa to Europe, we strive to engage localities in our design and construction approach. Our philosophy of providing more with less fosters innovation and resourcefulness in our practice, using local materials, local knowledge, and local technologies to create holistic and sustainable design solutions.

We – Karim El-Ishmawi, Martin Jacobs, Chris Middleton and our team – are Kinzo. In 2005 we established our architectural office in Berlin and have been working with international companies on the cutting edge of interior architecture and design ever since. The foundations of our work are: providing our clients with the best consultation, a precise analysis of every project and the joint development of strategies. A holistic design approach and our support throughout all design and constructional phases round off our company philosophy, which is to always provide individual and sustainable solutions.

Konstantin Grcic (*1965) was trained as a cabinet maker at The John Makepeace School (Dorset, England) before studying Design at the Royal College of Art in London.
